CEO Announcement

The Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust and Semenoff Stadium are delighted to announce the appointment of Brent Markwick as its new Chief Executive.

Brent brings a wealth of local experience and leadership to this role, having served for the past 14 years as the Chief Operating Officer of Sport Northland.

The appointment of Brent Markwick follows a rigorous selection process managed by Richard Stenhouse at Global Elite Sports. Brent stood out within a strong field of applicants from across New Zealand for his connection to the region, knowledge of the operating environment, and aspiration to lead the organisation into its next stage of development.

“Brent's tenure as Chief Operating Officer of Sport Northland, coupled with his previous responsibilities overseeing events and district services, positions him perfectly to lead the Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust and drive the fulfilment of our strategic plan” said Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust Chair, Nigel Brereton.

In announcing this appointment, the Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust Board wishes to express gratitude to Carina de Graaf, the outgoing General Manager, for her dedicated service and significant contributions to the organisation. Carina's leadership has been instrumental in guiding the Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust through the challenges of COVID-19 and the successes of events such as the Women’s Rugby World Cup.

“We are excited about the future under Brent's leadership and confident that his passion for community engagement and commitment to excellence will propel the Northland Events Centre (2021) Trust and Semenoff Stadium towards new heights”, said Nigel Brereton.
